Jazz Pop takes the harmonies and rhythms of jazz, and trims them down to a more accessible listening experience with easygoing grooves and warm melodies. Artists such as Ramsey Lewis shot to the charts in the '60s, covering pop songs and reducing far-out trends to conservative, funky rhythms. More recently, artists such as David Sanborn, Al Jarreau and Kenny G have enjoyed pop success while maintaining a jazz base.
