Bicycles are a popular mode of transportation in the LHC. However, the road can be bumpy: In March 2007, three containers called cryostats, which wrap around a chain of giant electromagnets, ripped lose during pressure testing and ruptured creating a loud bang, cloud of dust, and a delay, according to The New York Times.
