The erstwhile Wonderlove member clearly picked up some fine lessons from Stevie. If anything, she's inclined to go silkier than the famously silky songman. "Feel the Fire" mixes burbling keyboards--chorded more to jazz than R&B--with sateen strings and Maysa's soft swoons.

Instantly identifiable, completely inviting and totally convincing, Maysa's soulful, heartfelt and no nonsense approach has made her one of the most admired R&B singers on the scene for close to two decades. With a single note, the Baltimore native can ignite spine-tingling chills with her earthy, intoxicating and velvety smooth voice. Coming of age in the 70s, Maysa, a former member of Stevie Wonder's Wonderlove and a longtime lead vocalist with the popular jazz-funk aggregate Incognito, harnesses the spirit of the true R&B singer on her new and second Shanachie recording, Feel The Fire.
