Editor's review

Just when dance-rock is fixing to get boring, these Left Coast left-handers show up and throw a kink in the beat. The first key is cooling off the hard house rhythm--pretending it's just rock 'n' roll, really--but letting it drive some truly twisted tones and dazed vocals.

Biography

Scissors for Lefty are signed to Rough Trade Records outside of North America, with their full-length, Underhanded Romance, dropping in the UK in early 2007. They released their debut single, "Ghetto Ways," in the UK on June 12, and the next single "Mama Your Boys Will Find a Home" is out September 11. They just returned from a run of dates in the UK to promote "Mama," and played the Reading/Leeds Carling Festival, Indian Summer Festival, T on the Fringe, an MTV sponsored Barfly gig, and a run of dates with Metric and Panic at the Disco! The band has also recently toured with the Arctic Monkeys, Paul Weller, and Dirty Pretty Things, and were named the "Best Up and Coming Indie Rock Band" in the recent SF Weekly "Best Of" edition.

"ambitious, sarcastic sophistopop.... quirky, promising and quite possibly 'awesome'." - NME

"This San Francisco band has a charismatic front-man who squeals and mumbles; a guitarist who discharges tight, delirious hooks; and a rhythm section that pumps up the jams, motherfucker... exhibiting the kind of wide-eyed exhilaration that's been missing from rock 'n' roll for a long time."
- SF Weekly Best of 2006
